The future is built on the stories we choose to remember.

Remembrance is a Nationally Recognized Afrofuturism campaign for elders, an American collective memory project. Think, “The MOTH” or “TEDTalks” where we blend storytelling and practical actions into a platform that restores elders as our community anchors.

Our Mission |
to create spaces for storytelling, foster cultural connections, and amplify cultural expression across generations

How |
Through our podcasts, live local celebrations, and local-to-national storytelling network, we are building a culture of remembrance for us, by us.

Our Goals |

A National Holiday | Our work is highly purpose driven. Remembrance Day will be a call to action — to listen, to watch, and to learn from those who’ve come before us. We know that creating a national holiday that celebrates elders, honors their wisdom, and bridges generational gaps through advocacy and tech is about more than a one day, its a movement, a call for us to remember who we are, and who we want to be in the future

Generating Collective Memory | In an increasingly fractured and siloed America, Remembrance is a campaign for resurfacing shared values and rebuilding intergenerational community that nurtures our interest in the bonds we’ve forgotten. We’ve committed to reaching as many of the 12,000 neighborhoods in the U.S. without an oral history, and losing elders.

Since 2020, our founder Robert Jackson, has been speaking to people around the country about creating a new national holiday centered on memorializing this communal wisdom. He believes that by elevating and celebrating storytellers, especially our elders, we can ignite a spirit of radical curiosity.
